ZAGREB, Aug 4 – Old Pilot’s Gin, produced by the Croatian pilots Hrvoje Busic and Tomislav Anadolac, has won the gold medal at this year’s International Wine and Spirit Competition in London.
Their gin was voted best in the London Dry category and won the London Dry Gin Trophy 2019, the first such prize awarded to a Croatian brand.
Speaking in an interview with the Nova TV commercial television channel, Busic said that they use Croatian herbs and work with herbalists, adding that they have been working on the recipe for two years and have learnt the latest production technology in the Netherlands. “Finally, this is the fruit of attention to detail, and nothing was left to chance,” he said.
Busic and Anadolac are pilots and old friends whose passion for flying and premium-quality spirits inspired them to open a micro distillery, “Duh u boci” or The Spirit in the Bottle, in Zagreb.
