ZAGREB, Sept 19 (Croatia Sun News) – Education Minister Blazenka Divjak on Thursday said that 4,000 requests for school assistants had been approved approved so far for this school year, which is 1,000 more than in the 2018-2019 school year.
She noted that the number of requests for classroom assistant “has exploded”. We have never had so many requests, she added.
Unfortunately, some of the requests were not sent to the ministry in a timely fashion and some are still arriving, the minister added.
This past Saturday, the civil society initiative called “School for All” held a protest rally in Zagreb, demanding the hiring of a higher number of school assistants who can help children with disabilities to be better included in education.
Participants in the protest warned about some of deficiencies in the school system, and said that hundreds of children were left without their classroom assistants at the beginning of this school year.
