The count was done at 36 sites and showed that the majority of the birds living in Kopacki Rit are ducks, geese, cormorants, cranes, swans, gulls, herons, grebes and kingfishers.

The management of Kopacki Rit recently became responsible for a NATURA 2000 area that stretches over 18,000 hectares from the northern boundary of the nature park to the border with Hungary.

The winter count found 5,159 birds and 35 bird species living there, which combined with the result of the count in Kopacki Rit proper brings the total number of birds living in this area to over 28,000.
