ZAGREB, March 29 (Croatia Sun News) – A call for submissions has been announced for the 14th Vukovar Film Festival – the Danube countries’ festival, which should take place from 1 to 5 July, the organisers have stated.
“Despite the current situation in Croatia caused by the coronavirus epidemic, the City of Vukovar and the Discovery Film company are determined more than ever before to organise the fourteenth edition of the Vukovar Film Festival,” the organisers said.
The deadline for submissions is 17 May, and films produced after 1 January 2019 are eligible to enter the competition.
The competition is open to feature films, short films and documentaries from countries of the Danube River basin – Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Moldavia, Germany, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia and Ukraine.
Films from countries close to the Danube region – Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Czech Republic – will also be accepted. Co-productions with those countries are also eligible for the competition.
The interested public – professionals and amateur film makers – have been invited to submit short films or documentaries filmed in isolation as a way of encouraging personal creativity in the current difficult situation, as well as to show that positivity and optimism must prevail even in hard times.
Films must be submitted either in DVD format or via a link to the film’s screener at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Films must have subtitles in English.
