ZAGREB, May 11 (Croatia Sun News) – The design studio Tumpic/Prenc from the northern Adriatic resort town of Rovinj has won the Best of Show award for best work at this years’ European Design Awards competition.
They won the Best of Show for their signs and displays project at the Pula-Pola Town Pools, for which they were also awarded Gold in the Signs and Displays category. The same studio won another Gold in the Packaging Food and Beverages category for their design of the Latini olive oil packaging, the Croatian Designers’ Association (HDD) said.
Two more studios from Croatia are among the award-winners: the Studio Flomaster won the Silver in the Book Cover – Single category for the Croatian edition of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and the Hamper Studio won the Bronze in the Book Layout category for the first Croatian translation of the “Language of the Birds”, a Persian mystical poem by Farid ud-Din Attar
“The success of the Tumpic/Prenc Studio is without a doubt the greatest success ever achieved by Croatian designers at this prestigious European competition, which is special, among other things, because the jury does not consist of professional designers, but of critics, editors, and authors who write about design,” the HDD emphasised.
The Best of Show is one of the three most important awards at this competition and is presented for the work which is rated the overall best design in Europe across all categories.
